Iwo Jima Unfolded: Who Were The Men That Raised The Flags?
The Iwo Jima photograph of the raising of the American flag on top of Mount Suribachi is probably one of the most photographs of the Second World War. Joe Rosenthal's flag raising photograph was printed on almost every newspaper in the United States and became so popular that the men in the photograph were asked to support a war bond campaign. But did you know that the flag in the photograph was not the first one to be raised and the first flag raising is considered to be even more important than the second? In this video we will dive into the complete story of the two flag raisings on top of Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima. Even more interesting: almost all of it was caught on camera.

the cemetarys of all the soldiers are such a somber site to see and take in , hundreds of thousands died for ego-maniac putting it nicely, more than one physco nut case put in control ruined so many families that to this day are still torn apart and to think we have the same mentality in charge now in several countries pushing for the same things to try and control the world and have its citizens bow down.

Personally, I don’t believe that you honor Mr McHugh by rubbing dirt on his cross. I f the Battlefield Monuments organization had intended to have the names stand out in this way, they would have darkened them all. Plus, you can read it well without doing so. In addition these were brave soldiers, and should be casually referred to as “guys.” With that being said, I do otherwise appreciate very much your tribute to these men.

My uncle pfc Max l Alcantar was with 415th of the 104th company k he was Kia in duren feb 25 th after the crossed the river on the boats. His boat was the one that tipped over. He made it but lost his bar riffle and helmet. He had to go into duren with a knife 🔪 and find a weapon . 2 days later in a skirmish he was Kia. If you like I can send you a picture of him. He received a silver star for the battle in stollberg Germany. Feb 16 th in the heavily wooded area the 2 battalion where pinned down. He was the bar man that stood up in the face of macho gun fire and mortar fire. He silenced the gun that had them pinned down and the units were able to withdraw after he took out the gunner. While taking on shrapnel in the process. And later joined his group. Hero of the moment. Rip uncle Max. If you would like a photo and info to add to your research dm me . Ty for the cool vid you made of the areas. And your dedication to the Timberwolves yes they need more recognition for what they did. They were up front most of the battle after d day.

My grandfather fought on that day serving for france with the allies, he luckily survived and was only 16 years old when he served for the french and sadly most of his team died. He even had to watch his friends get shot running up the beach and in front of him, He was shot in the arm but the wound wasn’t bad enough. He passed away 9 years ago from today.
